CONSTRUCTION: FILMING
We had filmed on the 10/12/20 using this script filming in the drama studio. Due to our high expectations we were not satisfied for the filming we had partaken in that day, and we felt as if we need to do better. Due to this we will be keeping this idea of a film opening, however, changing the angle and dynamic of our film opening.
Risk Assessment
In this post, I will be explaining all the risks that will be present when we are filming/editing this film opening. This will hopefully also give us an idea on how to reduce or minimise these risks, making the filming and editing of the production of this film opening as safe and secure as humanly possible.
The first part of filming we will be doing is the interrogation scene. One of the risks that are present in the shooting of this film opening is placing a bag over the suspects' head at the start of the scene. We will have to do this tactically, as if left on for too long, the person can be suffocated. To reduce this occurring we can make sure the bags aren't on their head for a prolonged amount of time. This can be done by having a timer and knowing exactly when to take the bags off. This will also help the organisation of our film opening.
Another risk in our film opening is crossing the road when going to the river. This is dangerous as we will have to cross multiple main roads, which is extremely dangerous as cars are travelling at extremely high speeds. We can reduce this risk through only crossing the road where there is a traffic light and not J-walking (crossing the road where there is no traffic light) to minimise the risk of us possibly getting hit by a car.
Another risk is possibly falling into the water when walking next to the small river next to the Princess Alice Hospice. Our plot requires us to film next to a river, meaning we will have to be careful in that no one falls into the river, as the waters are rough and there is a slight chance of drowning if you are in those waters at cold temperatures. To minimise this risk we will only walk, not run past the river to make sure we are being extremely cautious in where we step.
One of our characters owns a fishing rod. The end of a fishing rod has a hook, which in some cases are extremely sharp. This sharp hook on the fishing rod would be enough to pierce skin, meaning we will have to be careful when handling with the fishing rod. To do this we will be wearing thick gloves which means that even if the hook touches the glove, it will not tear through it.
PLANNING - AUDIENCE PROFILE
1. Who is my primary target audience?
Our target audience is mainly boys/men from the ages of 11-22. We believe this would be the most effective target audience as they are the prime target audience in films like ours, such as the Maze Runner. The age group allows our viewers to be mature enough to appreciate the cinematography and understand what is happening on screen and going up to 22 means they still have an imagination and can actually picture themselves in the actors' position.
2. What kind of films and television are they likely to prefer?
Our target audience are likely to prefer action-adventure type movies such as The Maze Runner and The Hunger Games. Another possible genre people who might like our movie is a murder-mystery genre, as this is the general theme we are going to be using in our film.
3. What platforms do they choose to watch films and where are they likely to see information about films?
I believe that our target audience will be almost hipster and enjoy going to independent theatres to watch smaller films that don't have nearly as much budget than films like the Avengers and The Maze Runner. They are likely to see information about films on social media platforms such as Reddit and Twitter. I have chosen those two platforms as they are off-piste; non-mainstream.
4. What brands do they prefer?
The brands our target audience may prefer are going to Vintage shops and buying clothes from there, again, complying with the hipster persona I believe would enjoy our film.
5. What makes my film stand out from the competition?
Our film is different through how we have combined different genres into one. We have combined action, murder mystery and adventure all into one film and we really believe that it will come off for us in the long run.
6 . Why should my audience watch my film?
My audience should watch my film as it stands out from all the other competitors. We are bringing something new to the scene and we really believe that people will enjoy watching our movie.
RESEARCH TASK - SORRY WE MISSED YOU

Sorry We Missed You is a movie in the genre of drama directed by Ken Loach, well known for directing Kes (1969), Riff-Raff (1991) and, more recently, Sorry We Missed You (2019). Ken Loach, 84, is British director of 27 movies throughout his career. In most of his movies he criticises social ideology and tackles problems experienced in everyday society, such as homelessness. In Sorry We Missed You he targets the issue of poverty, overwork and the way organisations treat their staff.
Sorry We Missed You is about a family's struggle to escape from poverty. The father was hard financially of the 2008 global financial crash and found himself in extreme debt. Because of this, he has to take whatever work he could get and now works as a delivery driver to earn money for his family. He buys a new van and starts his own independent delivery service. He struggles at first due to the intensity of the job and how he hardly has any time with his family, which is a big part of his life. The film shows the audience that the family is strong, however, the father and mother are both working long hours in unrewarding jobs and are tested to their limit, while pulled in different directions for their jobs, family life and their relationship. This story is partly dedicated to Don Lane, a DPD courier who died in 2018 after failing to take care of his health because he was so focused on working as many hours as possible through the Christmas period. He missed multiple hospital appointments so that he could carry on working in a desperate attempt to provide for himself and his family. This relates to Sorry We Missed You as the father in the movie experienced similar issues – he was so focused on working and trying to provide for his family that he missed out on many chances to be with his family and spend quality time with them. As much as this helped his family, they did not really appreciate his efforts as much as he expected them. This could be because they would have preferred to have the time with him.
The film does not feature any big movie stars, which follows a pattern of many Ken Loach films. Loach believes that using less well known actors makes it easier for the audience to relate to the characters in the movie. as It makes it more believable to see associate these unknown actors with the everyday person, struggling in life and finding it hard to get a grip of everyday lives. The movie also takes an underhand dig at large courier companies such as DPD and UPS and how they treat their employees as though they are just machines, with no respect for their personal situations. Sorry We Missed You, is carries the message to encourage these organisations to think about how they treat their workers and to put a limit on how many hours they can work before they have to take a break. Not like in the case of Don Lane, where he had been given a £150 fine when he missed work to attend his type 1 diabetes doctors appointment, the lack of treatment for which ended up being the reason for his death. Overall this movie carries many important messages, ranging from the importance of family life and relationships, to taking care of our health and to challenging how bug business care for their workers.

ON THE SET
In class, we passed around the camera, learning how to turn it on, take a photo, zoom in, insert the memory card and battery and loads of other vastly useful tools in using a camera. We also learnt how to put the camera onto the tripod, how to use the tripod and how to take the camera off the tripod without damaging the camera or the tripod.
We also learnt about the 180 degree rule, which means that you should have the same relationship with the left side of the shot as you do with the right side, so it is not too obvious that it is filmed in a set, indulging the viewer more into the scene.
We also learnt about the on-set etiquette, which meant that when the director shouts rolling, everyone must be quiet, and prepare for him to say cut and strike the kit, marking the start of the filming.

CONTINUITY EXERCISE - FOOTBALL
Continuity exercise
Our film starts off with a following shot of Matt, playing football doing various skills such as a stopover. He then beats the defender, however, the defender, me, gets a bit rowdy that he has been dribbled past. The defender takes down the player with the ball and gives away a free kick. We then get a slow motion shot of of the defender taking the player with the ball down. This allows the viewer to reflect on how severe the tackle was.
We then did a hard cut to a POV shot of the player putting down the ball on the ground for a free kick. This immerses the viewer and makes them feel like they are the character taking the free kick. We then hard cut to a over-the-shoulder shot of the player taking the free kick, giving us a overview of the goal. In the cut the defender is trying to make a wall to block the ball from going in, with the keeper directing him where to go. We then hard cut to a shot of the ball, slowly panning up towards the free-kick takers face, where he is nobly looking towards the goal, as if he aims to shoot the ball into the goal. We then hard cut to a pan shot around the players face where he is looking towards the goal. This then cuts to a following shot of the players leg, running towards the football, then proceeding to kick it. We then get a POV shot of the football going into the goal then dropping to the floor. During this POV shot we see a shot of my face looking as the ball flies past my face and a shot of ben Richardson diving towards the ball attempting to stop it going into the goal.
TABLE-TOP FILM - CHAMBERLAIN
This tabletop opening sequence to a movie was about a man who was attempting to kill someone. It starts by doing a pan over a piece of a news article from the newspaper. This shows a picture of three men, all with squares drawn around their face in red pen. This could reflect on how the man wants to kill them through the red coloured ink, implying the blood. Below these squares are the three men's alias. Below the alias' there is a short brief telling the owner of this newspaper article which person he needs to kill.
FILM DISTRIBUTION
HOW CAPTAIN MARVEL WAS MARKETED
How
Captain Marvel was marketed
One of the
ways Captain Marvel was marketed was to target the large percentile of women in
their audience. They are focalising in on woman empowerment to play on the
strong feelings of women that have been birthed in recent times. One way that
they have done this is through making Captain Marvel a woman. This gives a
personal interaction between the audience and film as they feel as if their
wish has been granted. This woman Captain Marvel is one of the first lead roles
played by a woman in a Marvel movie.
Another way
Captain Marvel has been marketed is through the heavy sense of nostalgia seen
throughout the film. This nostalgia comes from how they always have cameos from
previous movies. This brings a personal connection, again, between the whole of
the audience, who have seen the previous movies, and the film cast as they are
bringing in past stars of previous Marvel movies. In addition to this, the film
has heavy influence from the previous sets from Marvel films, such as the 1990s
set, for example, some scenes are similar to the old movies, some sets are
similar, some situations are similar etc.
